RENNtech SLR McLaren – New 1/4 mile World Record!! 9.76 @ 140 mph – Road Test TV

Last night, the World’s Fastest Mercedes SLR, got a little faster. How Fast? Well, the RENNtech SLR shattered its own 1/4 mile record of 10.29 @ 134 mph (215 kmh), with an astonishing 9.76 @ 140.8 mph (226 kmh). That makes this SLR not only the Quickest and Fastest Mercedes powered Mercedes Benz in the World, it also is the World’s First Mercedes Benz powered Mercedes to run 9s in the quarter mile.

This SLR also looks better than the average SLR (Did I say average and SLR in the same sentence?). The SLR 777 was a 2011 SEMA Show Car created by Platinum Motorsport, RENNtech, MACarbon, and Exotics Boutique. The Record Setting SLR has a Mansory Renovatio bodykit and custom interior. Its our understanding that Renntech messaged the SLR’s supercharged powerplant to produce nearly 800 HORSEPOWER. RENNtech modified the supercharger, added larger heat exchangers, more efficient intercooler pump, prototype race headers, a limited slip differential and modified the five-speed transmission to handle the extra power. Platinum Motorsport installed the bodykit, the Agetro M140 Monoblock wheels and applied the “liquid white” paint. MACarbon tricked out the interior with numerous carbon fiber components.

In case you were wondering…..Yes, this is the same SLR that held the old SLR 1/4 mile World Record of 10.29 @ 134 mph. And yes, this SLR formerly was black in color. Below is a video of the 10.29 run from May 2011.

From the factory, a Mercedes SLR is no slouch as it comes with a hand-built 5.4 L (331.9 cu in), supercharged, all-aluminium, SOHC V8 engine with three valves per cylinder. When stock, the Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger produces approximately 0.9 bar (13 psi) of boost and generates 617 horsepower (460 kW; 626 PS) @ 6500 rpm. The SLR 777, with nearly 800 horsepower on tap, will eat a stock SLR alive.
