The Porsche Cayenne has surprisingly been a huge success for a brand that’s focus on making sports car and has never ventured into the SUV territory. Jaguar is now trying to follow in Porsche’s footsteps.

Even while denying reports that it has any plans to launch an SUV, Jaguar has just registered the names “Q-Type” and “XQ” with the EU trademark office.

There are no concrete details as to what Jaguar plans on doing with those trademarks – but to us they definitely sound like some badging you would see on the back of an SUV.

If Jaguar does plan to produce an SUV, it will most likely tap into Land Rover’s Range Rover parts bin. Stay tuned for more details.
