Mark Reuss, GM North America President, has a wish list and on top of that list is a modestly priced, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe that will attract young buyers. The model would compete with the likes of the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, Hyundai Genesis and other.

“A really nice, light, rear-drive car that’s inexpensive — we know that rings a bell,” said Reuss. “That’d be a huge win for us if we had that.”

While it’s not on the drawing board yet, Reuss said, GM hinted at the idea at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show with the Chevy Code 130R rear-wheel-drive concept.

The concept received a ‘really strong’ feedback from young people at the auto show circuit, Reuss said.

Personally, I think Chevy definitely needs a compact rear-wheel-drive sports coupe.
