Report: Jaguar’s to do more RS GT models, will compete with Mercedes AMG Black Series cars

At the 2013 New York Auto Show, Jaguar unveiled yet another extreme version of the XK. Known as the Jaguar XKR-S GT, the model pushes 550-hp from its 5.0 liter V8 allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. So what’s all this GT talk about?

According to Jaguar design studio director Wayne Burgess, the ‘GT’ badge is being built up inside Jaguar for hand-built special edition models which will be aimed at wealthy customers.

Think of the Jaguar GT models as their answer to Mercedes-Benz AMG’s Black Series lineup.

So, while the R and the RS badges attract enthusiasts, the RS GT models will be hand-built and will demand a higher price tag for more exclusivity.
