May 13th, 2013 by Road Test TV
Here’s a rumor that never seems to just die no matter how much BMW denies the possibility. According to CARandDRIVER, rumors are once again circulating that BMW is considering to bring back the M8 some time in 2016, which is the same year that BMW will be celebrating its centennial year.
CARandDRIVER says that the new M8 will be based on the same platform as the i8 and will be powered by an upgraded version of a 4.4 liter direct-injected TwinPower Turbo V8. The new BMW M8 is expected to produce somewhere in the range of 600 to 650 -hp. the engine will be mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
No word on how the new BMW M8 will look but we’re hoping it looks somewhat like the BMW M1 concept pictured here. Word has it that the body and structure will make made from lightweight materials like carbon fiber, magnesium, aluminum and titanium. The overall weight of the car is expected to come in around 2,700 pounds.
Of course, if all this is true, pricing is expected to be quite up there with rumors suggested a price tag of more than $300,000.
