Toyota FT 86 Open Concept Side ViewIt’s safe to say that the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ are some of the most popular sports car for this year. Both come with a Subaru 200-hp boxer engine, send power the rear-wheels and if mated to a 6-speed manual transmission – you can end up having a lot of fun.

What would make it even more fun – especially if you live in California or Florida? Dropping the top.

Well, Toyota has just introduced the Toyota FT-86 (which is what the Euros and the Japanese call the car in their markets) Open Concept. The concept hints at convertible version of the Scion FR-S and Toyota FT-86. Will Subaru do one as well? We’re not sure since they haven’t confirmed anything as of yet – however, we couldn’t imagine them leaving the option for a convertible out of the picture.

Toyota says that it will take the FT-86 Open Concept on a tour to gather consumer reaction. If the reaction is positive enough, Toyota will build the car in the very short term.
