New World Record! 10.27 @ 137.46 – World’s Quickest and Fastest Mercedes Benz – Road Test TV

April 2nd, 2011 by Road Test TV

Road Test – With the introduction of AMG modified cars, everyone now knows that Benzs are not just for grandpa anymore. But would you believe they are running low 10s in the quarter mile. Some well respected tuners, in this case RENNtech, are making serious power with the AMG powerplants, and that power has translated into a new quarter mile record.

The guys at RENNtech have been burning the midnight oil doing R&D on the BiTurbo motors. RENNtech’s emphasis on the Biturbo platform is as a result of AMG’s decision to put twin turbos on many of the new AMG vehicles. Well, on April 1, 2011, the guys from RENNtech pulled out all the stops on their BiTurbo CL65 at Palm Beach International Raceway. When the dust settled, the big V12 Biturbo RENNtech Mercedes beast, shredded the quarter mile in 10.27 @ 137.46. The prior mods to this luxury monster consisted of RENNtech modified ECU/TCU, airbox, limited slip differential, high flow exhaust, drag radials, modified heat exchanger and intercooler pump. The latest modifications include a more aggressive race only tune, carbon ceramic brakes, modified transmission and a prototype torque converter.

Looks like a nine second Benz is on the horizon.
