2011 Nissan GT-R – Drag Test – 11.86 @ 118.73 mph – Road Test TV

May 2nd, 2011 by Road Test TV

Initially introduced as a 2009 model, the 2011 Nissan GT-R represents the last GT-R with under 500 horsepower. As everyone now knows, the 2012 GT-R is rated at 530 horsepower due to increased boost as well as intake and exhaust changes. Despite being three years old, the outgoing 2011 Nissan GT-R continues to be one of the most breathtaking performance cars available. The 2011 GT-R accelerates from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and crushes the quarter-mile in less than 12 seconds. We’ve had the opportunity to drive many GT-Rs over the past 3 years, and our experience is that it is a forced to be reconed with. Handling is outstanding, with quick steering and all wheel drive to keep it glued to the road. Recently we had the opportunity to drag test a 2011 Nissan GT-R and were please with the result: 11.86 @ 118.73 mph.

For 2011, the Nissan GT-R was no longer offered in a base model. As such, the Premium model is the only choice. Nissan re-tuned the suspension for greater comfort, added darker wheel center caps, double clear-coated the paint on the front and rear fascias and revised the GT-Rs rear cooling ducts. Also, automatic headlights, speed-sensitive windshield wipers, iPod connectivity, streaming Bluetooth audio and DVD playback were standard in the 2011 model. Furthermore, real-time traffic and weather were added to the navigation system. As such, if you can’t or don’t want to pencil whip a check for more than $90,000 to buy a 2012 model, the 2009, 2010 or 2011 Nissan GT-R is certainly not a bad 2nd choice.
