Hot News!!! 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 – Smaller engine, same power
April 2nd, 2012 by Road Test TV
Chevrolet is keeping details of their upcoming seventh generation (C7) flagship, the Corvette, under wraps – literally. After flogging the C7 chassis and powertrain, presumably, under C6 Grand Sport bodies with little disguise, a mummified C7 tester has been spotted cold-weather testing in Michigan. We’re expecting the 2014 Corvette C7 to introduce the 5th generation small-block V8 that GM just bet the farm on by expanding US plants. Price shouldn’t change much from the current $50,000 baseline.
Here’s a quick rundown of the changes we’re hearing about for 2014
- Lower roofline
- Double-bubble roof panel is back
- LED lights, at least up front, in narrower housings
- Quad exhaust tips in a row, spaced equally
- Possible hood ventilation
- 5th generation 5.5-6.0 liter V8 ~430hp
- Higher compression ratio
- Direct injection fuel system
- Cylinder deactivation with start/stop functionality
