Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz talking sharing engines and components

It’s been rumored for quite some time and now we’re hearing it again. Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz are once again talking about sharing engines and other components. According to insiders, the two company’s are in the ‘early stage’ of talking with discussions involving each supplying the other with components and technical assistance.

The talks are currently going on between Daimler and two major shareholders of Aston Martin, Investindustrial and the Kuwaiti-listed Investment Dar.

A spokeswoman for Daimler said that while no decision has been made on a potential collaboration, “both sides know and respect each other very much”.

Some reports suggest that the two will share knowledge on platform sharing – with the most potential candidate being the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

We’ll see how these talks evolve.
