Lamborghini says farewell to the Gallardo with the most extreme Gallardo EVER
August 7th, 2013 by Road Test TV
The lifespan of the Lamborghini Gallardo is coming to the end of the line – but before the Italian supercar maker gets rid of the car it will give it one last hoorah. Meet the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, the most extreme Lamborghini Gallardo ever built.
Based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo, the race car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the name Squadra Corse pays hommage to a new Lamborghini department, which is responsible for all motorsport activities from GT3 to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championships.
What’s under the hood? The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse is powered by the same V10 found in the racing version with no upgrades. You get 570-hp at 8,000 rpm, which will allow you to run from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds while shifting through a robotized e-gear 6-speed transmission. 0 to 124 mph comes in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph. The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse tips the scale at 2,954 pounds.
In terms of looks, the Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse gets a lot of inspiration from the racecar version with a big wing, a carbon fiber hood and some other components.
The all-new Lamborghini Gallardo is expected to be revealed in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show. When the new Gallardo is unveiled, expect a bunch of design upgrades that will push it to the aggressive stance of the new Aventador along with significant powertrain upgrades with output coming in close to 600-hp.
The current Lamborghini Gallardo has been around since 2003 with over 10,000 built in its first seven years of production.
