The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Coupe has long been a successful high-end product for the luxury German brand. However, after many years, Mercedes-Benz will be changing the name and will offer the coupe under its S-Class brand. The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Concept made its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show last week and was met with much praise and appreciation.
“The new S-Class Saloon was received enthusiastically in the market and perfectly lives up to its role as a representative of the power of innovation of Mercedes-Benz,” says Dr Joachim Schmidt, Member of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing. “On the S-Class Coupe as the traditional top of our product range the designers take advantage of their additional freedom and thus create an automotive masterpiece.”
The S-Class Coupe Concept carries a sloping roof-line for a sportier stance with a rear-end that seems to be much different than anything the brand offers today.
“The Concept S‑Class Coupé combines tradition and emotion, and is a symbol for the embodiment of our design style of sensual clarity,” said Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design at Daimler AG. “The perfected design with self-assured style and the highly exclusive appointments make the coupé a true design icon and an expression of modern luxury.”
Like its sedan sibling, the production of the S-Class Coupe Concept is expected to carry a bunch of innovative technology including ROAD SURFACE SCAN and MAGIC BODY CONTROL.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Concept is powered by a V8 Biturbo engine making an outstanding 455-hp.
The production version of the concept is expected to hit markets next year and will carry much of the same innovative technologies found in the current S-Class Sedan.
