We recently had the opportunity to sample a 2011 Porsche 911 997 Carrera 4S equipped with the Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. We drove the C4S throughout Europe, and enjoyed every moment behind the wheel. In a word, the car was flawless. The Carrera C4S is a refined vehicle that is comfortable, eats up the miles without issue, handles amazing, accelerates in near supercar territory and delivers pretty good gas mileage. That’s a nice combination.

The base price of the 2011 Porsche 911 C4S is $102,380.00 when equipped with the PDK transmission whereas the base price of a C4S with a manual transmission is $98,300.00. Initially, we were dissapointed that our car was equipped with the PDK; however, in short order, we learned to love it. A PDK equipped 911 is quicker than a manual shift vehicle (0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds for PDK vs 4.5 seconds for the manual) and the transmision’s performance is second to none.
