Land Rover will be debuting a hybrid version of the new Range Rover Sport at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, according to a representative for the brand.

Land Rover’s Chief Program Engineer for Range Rover Sport, Stuart Frith, said that the Range Rover Sport Hybrid will debut in Frankfurt and will be powered by a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain. The diesel engine will be a SDV8 diesel making 516 lb-ft of torque. That will most likely be mated to a 93-hp electric motor and will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which we saw in the Range_e plug-in hybrid concept. With a combined output of 334-hp, the Range_e plug-in hybrid managed an all-electric range of 20 miles and a total range of 690 miles.

Reports also suggest that Land Rover is working on a Range Rover that will be powered by Ford’s 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

To refresh your memory, Ford used to own Land Rover before selling it off to Indian automaker Tata Motors.
