I’ve always felt that Bentley could use a wider product range and the UK based company may just be making the move. According to new reports, Bentley is looking to launch a rival for the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi A7 and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe some time in 2016.

Bentley CEO Wolfgang Schreiber has confirmed that a four-door coupe, based on the Continental GT, is currently under consideration.

“I definitely wouldn’t say no to the idea,” Schreiber told AutoExpress. “With the new Flying Spur, we have a model that supports the Mulsanne, and a coupe with four-doors could sit below that. “It’s not any time soon, that’s for sure, but maybe in the longer term,” Schreiber admitted. “At the moment our focus is very much on an SUV, because we know the market is there.”

Schreiber wants Bentley sales to increase from 8,510 units in 2012 to 15,000 by 2018.
