Earlier this year, Nissan confirmed that its NISMO department is working on a higher-powered road version of the Nissan GT-R. Word now has it that the Nissan GT-R NISMO has finally begun testing and is expected to make its world debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in November.

According to Nissan’s executive vice president Andy Palmer, who spoke with AutoCar, he drove a prototype in Japan, but declined to reveal technical details. However, he did say that it will be “the fastest GT-R ever”.

“The majority of the exterior changes are aero and downforce related,” said Palmer. “The production car record at the Nurburgring is the gold standard, and we expect to lower that.”

Power for the Nissan GT-R NISMO is expected to be increased way over the standard 542-hp.

Palmer said that this will be the most ultimate GT-R to ever come out of a Nissan factory.
