Report: Infiniti considering flagship sedan and coupe
May 7th, 2013 by Road Test TV
According to Infiniti’s President Johan de Nysschen, the brand is looking into offering a high-performance luxury sedan and coupe.
In an interview with CARandDRIVER, de Nysschen confirmed Infiniti is looking into ‘an upscale, very emotional, high-performance luxury sedan.’ The model could end up being Infiniti’s four-door-coupe competitor to the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi A7 and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.
As for as a luxury flagship coupe goes, de Nysschen said “I think we need some kind of sexy sports car that might share powertrains and platforms” with the range-topping sedan.”
de Nysschen was quick to point out that the coupe would not be a production version of the Emerg-E Concept since he believes “the world isn’t ready yet for a $200,000 Infiniti.” But apparently they are ready for a $100,000 Nissan (GT-R).
