Have you ever wondered why Mercedes-Benz’s AMG department never touched the compact GLK crossover? Well, according to CarAdvice.com of Australia, which spoke with AMG boss Tobias Moers, an AMG version was definitely considered but at the end Mercedes decided it wouldn’t be a good move for the company.

“Right now we don’t see that market,” Moers said. “Maybe we will change our mind, but right now we don’t see a marketing approach for that. Maybe there will be a change in market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up, but right now, no. It would be a huge investment for us … to make it a real AMG.”

That sounds a bit strange to us seeing as Audi has just revealed a sportier version of the Q3 with the Q3 RS and BMW is planning an M version of the BMW X1.
