It has been reported for quite some time that the next-generation Nissan GT-R will receive some sort of hybrid assisted powertrain – as is the case with many supercars of the 2013/2014 model year. Well, we finally received our biggest hint from Nissan.

During the 2013 New York Auto Show, a Nissan rep said that the next GT-R will ‘electrify’ fans.

Speaking to MotorTrend, Nissan North America’s senior vice president of sales and marketing Jose Munoz said “stay tuned later this year for news that will electrify our legions of GT-R fans worldwide.”

The next-generation Nissan GT-R is due out sometime in 2017 and will also borrow some design cues from the Infiniti Essence Concept. Other fuel-economy improvements will include standard cylinder deactivation and a stop/start system.
