Report: Production Lamborghini Urus due late 2016

Since we’re all about sports cars and supercars, it’s pretty rare for us to talk about an SUV – of course, that is if that SUV is developed by one of the most prestigious supercar makers in the world, Lamborghini.

Following the debut of the Lamborghini Urus SUV Concept at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, the company has been pretty quite on when we or if we will see a production version of the Urus.

According to Audi boss Rupert Stadler, who spoke with AutoCar, the production version of the Urus is on track for late 2016.

“Lamborghini has to do it,” said Stadler. “Because of the need to dovetail into production cycles, we should see the Urus in 2017.”

The Lamborghini Urus is likely to sit on the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
