SSC Tuatara

The SSC Tuatara is getting closer to production. According to SSC North America, the engineers at the company have completed the model’s new twin-turbo V8 engine.

The 6.9 liter V8 engine is capable of producing 1,350-hp along with a maximum torque of 1,280 lb-ft when running on 91 octane fuel. SSC says the engine is capable of producing up to 1,700-hp if needed.

No word on the 0 to 60 or the top speed of the SSC Tuatara but we’re pretty sure it’s aiming to top the Bugatti Veyron.

“This amazingly versatile package has already shown that it can easily be driven on a daily basis in any climate or environment in the world and at the same time can roll out of the pit area onto a track like Nurburgring and easily handle any rigors that record will require,” says SSC founder Jerod Shelby.
