Watch Out BMW X1, Mercedes GLA! Here Comes the Infiniti Q30
August 28th, 2013 by Road Test TV
Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its new GLA compact utility crossover. The BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 already dance in the segment but now Infiniti has come forth with its competitors known as the Q30. The Infiniti Q30 will make its concept debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show later next month.
“The Infiniti Q30 Concept signals the contemporary design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle which will target a new generation of premium customers,” Infiniti said in a statement. “Q30 Concept embodies Infiniti’s vision to deliver head-turning design, innovative materials with precise fit and finish and passionate craftsmanship, while provoking a radical shift in the premium compact segment.”
Infiniti says that while designing the new Q30 Concept, designers focused on a fusion of three body styles including a coupe, a hatch and a crossover. The company says that it’s confident that it will offer the sportiness of a coupe and the roominess of an SUV and a hatchback.
Infiniti also said that the Q30 “signals the next step in an aggressive strategy to extend the Infiniti brand into new premium segments.”
We’re not sure what Infiniti means by ‘new premium segments’ but we’re guessing larger and more luxurious Infiniti’s are on the way.
Infiniti has yet to offer a true competitor to the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S Class or the Audi A8 – which we feel is very necessary for the brand to do so.
Other than that, we’re still getting used to Infiniti’s ‘Q’ style nomenclature.
