April 3rd, 2013 by Road Test TV
Porsche has just introduced the 2014 Panamera lineup, which receives a nice but subtle facelift for the new model year. Major news for the 2014 model year is addition of the brand’s first ever plug-in hybrid – the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid. The new plug-in hybrid variant is also joined by the Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive models.
Also new for the 2014 model year is the addition of a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 for the Panamera S models.
Let’s take a closer look at the new Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid. The model produces a total 416-hp with the help of a 47-hp electric-motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. As a plug-in hybrid, the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid can be fully charged within approximately two and a half hours when connected to a 240V power source. While we are still waiting for official EPA fuel-economy ratings, Porsche says that the S E-Hybrid will allow for a total of 20 miles of gas-free driving when full charged with a top speed of 84 mph in all-electric mode. Total top speed comes in at 167 mph.
Performance wise, the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid can run from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, a half second improvement over the Panamera S Hybrid.
Sales of the new 2014 Porsche Panamera lineup will start in late 2013. Prices will start at $78,100 for the base model, $99,000 for the Panamera S E-Hybrid model and $161,100 for the top-of-the-line Panamera Turbo Executive.
